Android 7.0 Nougat might have experienced a full release since August this year, but this does not mean that majority of Android-powered smartphone owners out there have picked up the official Android 7.0 Nougat update for their respective handsets. The recently released LG V20 does arrive with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, but what about the rest of the LG devices that are already in the market? We are talking about the LG G3, LG G4, LG G5, LG V Stylo, and LG V10. Many rumors have been swirling around concerning the Android 7.0 Nougat update for LG devices, so here we are with some filtering done to ensure that the dross is removed while improbable situations are done away with for a clearer picture of what one can expect.
LG G5 Android 7.0 Nougat update
The International Business Times did report that the earlier 2016 flagship, the LG G5, could be on the receiving end of the Android 7.0 Nougat update as early as November 2016. After all, it is not as though there are no LG smartphones that run on Android 7.0 Nougat already, with the LG V20 shipping with that version of the mobile operating system.
Australian carrier Optus is tipped to deliver the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the LG G5 some time in the middle of next month, so we will just wait and see for the next fortnight if this is going to pan out to be true or otherwise.
What about other LG smartphones?
What about the older generation smartphones from LG? It seems that there is still some mileage left in the legs of the LG G3, where it did arrive with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and was subsequently given the upgrade to Marshmallow some time down the road. In fact, there was a sighting of the LG G3 running on Android 7.0 Nougat in a Geekbench Benchmark Test. That is always a good sign of things to come, but until something official is announced, we will simply have to sit tight and wait.
I would classify this segment as slightly unbelievable, but who knows? A handful of reports have gone out, citing that Android 7.0 Nougat will be introduced to the LG G5, LG G4, V10, X Cam, X Screen, X Max, X Mach, X Style, LG G4 Stylus , K8, K10 and K7 -- now that is quite an impressive list to say the least.
If so, then do expect that these updated devices will eventually be equipped with a bunch of additional features, including the benefits of multiple windows, being able to directly reply to notifications, Google Assistant, seamless updates, a VR Interface, data saver capability, instant apps, bundled notifications, new emojis that help you to communicate more efficiently, and an improved file browser, among others.
Neurogadget claims that LG would want to make the official Android Nougat 7.0 update happen by the time December 2016 rolls around, with the flagship LG G5 getting it first, before the update effect trickles down to its older devices. Having said that, this means the LG G4 and LG G3 will probably have to play the patience card a little while longer.
