It seems that the update for the Android 7.0 Nougat for the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S6, Note 5, and Note 4 might be pushed back to next year. Samsung fans have been hoping that it would be available by the end of the year, but they have been disappointed. The company has not given an official announcement so far.

Beta Updates for Now

In the meantime, Samsung has released the Android 7.0 Nougat beta update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This is like the Marshmallow beta update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge that they gave out in 2015. Starting on November 9, the testing will last until the middle of December of this year.

Samsung's program would allow the users to send feedbacks about how they feel about the update. A user who wants to try out the beta update should download the Galaxy Beta Programme app. That can be downloaded from the Samsung's Galaxy Apps store, but the process would not stop there.

The user would have to fill out an form to apply to become a beta tester. Users who are selected then the Nougat would be available for download in the Software Update part of their phones' settings. The beta update would only be available for the unlocked versions of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

No Guarantee

Even if the beta testing for the Android 7.0 Nougat on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge there is no guarantee that Samsung will make it available for public roll out. Since the company has not given an official date, observers believe that it would only become available by next year.

The Android Nougat will bring in some new features. People are excited about the split-screen mode that the update can bring. Another feature that people are excited about is the feature to send instant replies through notifications that are on-screens. On top of those features, the new Android software is to make it easy for the user to do multitasking, to do several tasks all at the same time, something which would make a smartphone a lot closer to a computer.

As of now, there is no official release date for the Nougat for Samsung devices. The guess that it would happen by early next year is still has not been confirmed by Samsung. The only thing that they have assured is that their devices would have a Nougat update.
