When Android 7.0 Nougat was first announced not too long ago, obviously those who owned Google-branded devices would be pleased as punch since they know that they would most probably be first off the blocks to enjoy the privileges of a new operating system update way before the other hardware manufacturers are able to jump on board the same bandwagon. Well, it looks like things are looking up for the LG G5, a flagship smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer introduced earlier this year. The latter 2016 flagship, the LG V20, already arrives with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, so there is no need to worry about hanging around and scratching your head for an update.
As for the LG G5, it seems that those who are rocking on Sprint’s network are able to enjoy some Android 7.0 Nougat goodness with the latest update. Basically, as long as you reside in the US and are subscribed to Sprint with an LG G5 in tow, you will be able to download the Android 7.0 Nougat update via two ways -- Over The Air (OTA) or through the official website the moment the update is uploaded, at least according to the folks over at GSMArena.
Needless to say, it is far from surprising to learn that LG G5 owners over in its home country, South Korea, were the first ones to enjoy the LG G5 with the Android 7.0 Nougat pushed to them. This is no ordinary jump in terms of mobile operating system versions, as Nougat does bring with it significant as well as major improvements which should make the smartphone experience a whole lot easier as well as better features for a greater degree of flexibility in terms of usage.
One of the improvements that will be introduced in Android 7.0 Nougat would be the efficient Doze feature which will certainly do its bit to save battery life. Sprint claims that the LG G5’s Android 7.0 Nougat update will weigh in at close to 1.3GB. Now that is certainly no ordinary file download, so it would be extremely advisable to perform the file download over a Wi-Fi connection, otherwise you would find yourself running out of data pretty quickly. After all, some data plans out there happen to be capped, and with the massive 1.3GB file size, you can be pretty sure that the limit will be hit sooner rather than later.
Well, I would say that things are certainly looking up for the LG G5, but we have received no word as to when the other eligible LG devices are going to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update just yet. So those of you who are using the LG G4, the LG G3, LG G Stylo and the previous generation LG V10 will simply have to be patient and wait until a formal announcement is made. After all, better late than never is always something that is worth holding on to.
