If you love to be on the cutting edge of technology where smartphones are concerned -- especially Android-powered ones, then you would not be able to go wrong when it comes to Google’s latest offerings, the Google Pixel and its larger sized sibling, the Pixel XL. These will naturally receive the latest version of the Android operating system by virtue of being Google’s flagship devices. We have started to receive word that the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones in the hands of consumers have started to pick up the notification to update their respective handsets to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will come with the build number NMF26Q, just so that you know you are on the right path if you would like to download it for installation. In fact, the first instances of it being spotted happened earlier this week, where this particular version of the update will bring with it a slew of tiny fixes in addition to a couple of new Moves. It is interesting to note that as opposed to months past, there was only a single unified build that was released for North America, Europe, and Verizon. Basically, this particular update is supposed to fix a connectivity issue -- not that you might have noticed there was one in the first place, anyway if you reside in the US. Why so? Carrying a similar 7.1.1 version number, the NMF26Q build will be formally referred to as Android 7.1.1 release 6. The fix in the connectivity issue includes the sending as well as receiving of MMS on O2, a carrier in the UK. It has been said that prior to the NMF26Q build, there were a number of users who did report on connectivity issues which involved Band 4 LTE when it comes to selected networks. These connectivity issues tend to result in lost or intermittent signal which would require the owner to reboot the Pixel XL or Pixel in order to get back to “normal”.
Google also did not mention anything in specific, although they did mention that Android 7.1.1 release 6 did carry “General connectivity improvements” in order to make sure that those issues will be a thing of the past for majority of the users out there.
