Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android L Update Release Date For Moto G (2014 and 2015), Moto X (1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen) and Moto E

The third generation Moto X?
Coming in September 2015, we think.

Google's Nexus series may never beat out the likes of Apple's iPhones or Korean tech giant Samsung's flagship mobile phones, but they almost always will have the advantage when it comes to getting the first rollouts of the latest operating systems.  as it once again showcased two months ago Nexus devices with the Android 6.0, otherwise known as Android M or Marshmallow, while other smartphone manufacturers jostle for the next batch of rollouts.

For Motorola's Moto G (2014 and 2015), Moto X (1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen) and Moto E news on the latest software update remains murky. Most of the available word centered on an Over The Air (OTA) update for Moto X Style and Moto X users in Brazil in India, as reported by Gospel Herald.

As noted by Android Pit, Motorola's David Schuster took to Google+ to announce that the Moto X (2014) and Moto X Pure Edition are starting to see the Android M rollouts. While Brazil and India may have first gotten first Motorola dibs on Marshmallow, a global rollout is expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.

So far, the confirmed list of devices that would be getting the Android M also include Moto X Play, Moto X Style, Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014), Moto G (2014) LTE, as well the Moto E (2015), but only in select regions.

If you've been on Android for a while now, you should be aware of the protocol by now; more recently released devices get the software updates first, which would then trickle down to older devices.

There is an interesting outlier in the case of the Moto E series, though, as the Gospel Herald notes that it will not be receiving the Android M update despite it being short of a year since its release, with the latest OS it will be receiving being the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Along with regional constraints, the rollouts of the Android M is also largely dependent on the different carriers, with T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint frequently experiencing delays when it comes to rollouts of the latest software updates.

As a note, VC Post reports that along with the fore mentioned Motorola handsets, the latest software update will also be arriving at Droid Maxx, Droid Maxx 2, Droid Turbo and Droid Turbo 2. Motorola users, though, are still waiting for the official announcement of when the Android M would be reaching their devices.
