An Android Lollipop update for the HTC One M9 is rolling out, while the M8 is still awaiting a future upgrade. Meanwhile, Samsung has rolled out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy Note Edge. The Android Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is still missing.

In the sections below, we will look at the Android Lollipop situation for the devices mentioned above.

HTC One M9

Recently, HTC's VP of Product Management, Mo Versi, confirmed that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will soon be rolling out to the One M9. For now, a handful of U.S. carriers will roll out the new firmware. These include Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

Mo Versi announced that AT&T's rollout begins on July 15, while T-Mobile and Verizon will start their rollout on July 20. Unfortunately, HTC has not provided a changelog for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the One M9.

HTC One M8

HTC has already rolled out the older Android 5.0 Lollipop for Sprint's, T-Mobile's and Verizon's version of the One M8. In contrast, AT&T users got the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the One M8 in early April. Since then, there have been no further updates for the device.

So far, only HTC's UK office has announced plans to bring Android 5.1 Lollipop to the One M8. HTC did not mention whether the update will be available to users in other parts of the world. In the meantime, the One M8 is still running on older variants of the Android Lollipop firmware.

Samsung Galaxy S6

Luckily for Galaxy series users, Samsung has been leading the way with consistent Android Lollipop updates. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is already available for the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Galaxy S6 users with T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular service plans have already received their updates. Meanwhile, AT&T and Verizon have not rolled out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Galaxy S6.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Like the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S5 also has the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. However, only T-Mobile has rolled out this firmware. None of the other U.S. carriers have confirmed plans to release the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Sprint has rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Galaxy Note Edge. Currently, it is the only U.S. carrier to have released this update. Other wireless service providers remain quiet regarding when their Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will be upgraded.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The Galaxy Note 4 has yet to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop despite rumors to the contrary. Earlier this year, SamMobile reported that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop was being tested on the Galaxy Note 4. Since then, there has been no further information supporting a mass release of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

This does not necessarily mean that the Galaxy Note 4 will not receive the Android 5.1.1 update in the future. Nonetheless, further information regarding this firmware update remains elusive at the moment.
