As is the annual tradition, Google updates its operating system of Android, and lately, it has been a full update, meaning that there is a point zero after the numerical designation. Last year, it was Android 5.0 (also known as Android L or Lollipop). This year, it is all about Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow), and Google has recently unveiled its Nexus series that runs this latest version. This is the signal that the latest version of Android is ready to roll out to other smartphone manufacturers, and this is the news for the Android M 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Date for the LG G4, G3 and G Flex 2 on U.S. Carriers like Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T.
According to Android Pit, you should have Android 6.0 on your LG G4 smartphone, provided you are living in Poland. Apparently, LG, who is boasting that they are the first phone company to update one of its devices to Marshmallow, is using Poland as a testing ground for the software update. Assuming that test goes well, it is only a matter of time before the Marshmallow goes worldwide on the LG G4.
As for the other carriers, such as Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint, it would appear that the most that the LG G4 has presently is Android Lollipop version 5.1. Although the latest of the Lollipop series is 5.1.1, it is unlikely that any of these carriers will get 5.1.1 for the G4, and it will skip to 6.0. Most of the recent updates to the Android operating system on LG were made to combat the Stagefright software bugs of more recent versions of Android.
So what other LG devices will be getting the Marshmallow update, and when? According to T-Mobile, the LG G3 and G Stylo are set to receive the Android M update during its first wave. The Express states that the update could be coming as soon as November, but this could apply to the newer LG phones that include the current flagship G4 and G Flex 2.
Getting Marshmallow to LG G4 users would be a good present to US Carriers and users before the holiday season, but Android users know that rollouts tend to happen on the newer phones first, and then slowly eke out on the older versions of phones. You have probably noticed that the G2 won't be getting any Marshmallow, and as for the G3, it would be no surprise if its update came sooner rather than later.
In fact, Pocket-Lint has cited that "traditionally" the wait could happen until early the following year. So not only will the LG G3 not receive its Android update until early winter or spring of 2016, this might actually apply to the LG G4 as well. It should be known that LG will officially confirm and publish an upgrade schedule "soon", but like the Marshmallow release date for LG's devices, there isn't anything specific for that.
