The Huawei Honor 6X is another smartphone that is waiting to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system update, having waited for so long. The thing is, there is still a fair bit of waiting left to go. At the very least, it has picked up the honor (pardon the pun) of being enrolled for an Android Nougat beta program, which is something that selected Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone owners were also part of before that 2016 flagship smartphone received the Android 7.0 Nougat update officially.
It was close to the end of January this year that the Android 7.0 Nougat beta program was reported to have occurred for the Honor 6X over in Europe. In fact, only five Honor 6X owners from the UK, Germany, France or Italy, without any mention of the US. Well, it looks like all of that is put to bed now as Honor 6X owners in the US, too, will be able to sign up for this particular program.
In fact, Huawei has announced that they are looking for beta testers to give the EMUI 5.0 on the Honor 6X a go in the US -- over on the official Twitter channel, of course, as you can see below.
Wanna be the first to test out EMUI 5.0 on your #Honor6X? Sign up to be a beta tester now. Email your IMEI to huaweifut@huawei.com now. pic.twitter.com/dbquir7yey

While it remains unknown as to the kind of requirements that Huawei is looking at, as well as the total amount of testers that they intend to recruit, why not give it a go yourself if you are an Honor 6X owner? To put yourself in the running is pretty simple -- all that you need to do is to email your IMEI number over to huaweifut@huawei.com, or two IMEI numbers if you happen to be rocking to a dual-SIM device, and you’re good to go.
From what we know about the EMUI 5.0 software that is running on the Huawei Mate 9, it would be a refreshing change from its previous interface, bringing with it an optional app drawer, an even more intuitive method of accessing the settings without having to go through numerous screens before arriving at the option which you would like to select, and other Android Nougat improvements such as multi-window support that ought to boost up your productivity a wee bit.
Huawei did mention before that the Honor 6X’s Android 7.0 Nougat update ought to be on its way to hit smartphones worldwide this March. However, the company then took a few steps back, mentioned that this was meant for the Honor 6X review units only, while the complete rollout for the masses should hit the market some time within the first half of the year. Hopefully that the Android Nougat beta program would be as smooth as butter in order to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy some Nougat goodness before we enter into the summer.
What are you waiting for? It is time you put yourself in the running to be part of the Android Nougat beta program update.
