Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of famed evangelist Billy Graham, has issued an urgent call for revival in the U.S. amid all of the anger, fear, and unrest currently seen across the country.
On Wednesday, Lotz, the founder of Angel Ministries, published a Facebook post asking her followers to consider what would happen across the country if everyone paused to listen to God's voice.
"Do you long for revival?" she asked. "Not just a tent meeting. Not just a series of church meetings, but an outpouring of God's spirit where God's people wake up in their relationship with God."
Lotz said that she's hoping and praying for increased interest in the Bible and cited past biblical examples of times in which the reading aloud of scripture helped to spark revival.
"In II Chronicles when King Josiah rediscovered the Word of God, he read it out loud to the people and they experienced revival," Lotz said. "In the book of Nehemiah, after God's people had been in captivity for 70 years, they came back to Jerusalem and Ezra, the scribe, got up before them and he just read the Word of God, and they had revival."
Amid all the chaos, fear and anger currently felt across the country, Lotz urged believers to pause and make an effort to listen to the Bible and God's word.
"So then that makes me wonder. What would happen if all of us, you and I, hit life's pause button in this day of confusion and chaos, and hopelessness and helplessness, what would happen if you and I also listened to the Word of God. I want to find out," she wrote.
The evangelist also shared a link to the "God Speaking" initiative's website, which encourages believers to listen to a total of eight hours of the Bible over the first eight days of August.
Participants of the challenge will receive daily Bible audio in their email boxes, will be able to choose from 900 different languages and from a collection of dramatized and non-dramatized scripture readings.
"So catch the vision. Let's don't just long for revival, let's ignite revival! God is speaking. Are you listening?" she asked.
Lotz frequently speaks on the topics of prayer, revival, and the importance of seeking God, as she believes we are living in the "last days."
"Our nation is in a mess. Why? Could it be because America is losing God's blessing? His favor. Could our sin be provoking His judgment? Judgment that is not necessarily in the form of a nuclear dirty bomb, or another ISIS attack, or an economic collapse. But a Romans 1 judgment as God backs out of our national life and turns us over to ourselves," Billy Graham's daughter wrote on her website earlier this year.
"God warns a nation that judgment is coming. He doesn't want any to perish. But if a nation does not heed His warnings, He unleashes His anger and there is nothing - no one - who can prevent it. If God would judge His own beloved nation of Judah, why would we think America could escape?" Lotz asked.
The evangelist lamented that many of the prayers and calls for repentance within the Church today are more a "rending of garments" and an "outward show to impress."
"Only God knows those who are rendering their hearts as they seek Him. But I am led to ask myself ... how truly serious am I about seeking God on behalf of our nation? When was the last time I fasted and wept and mourned and confessed the sin of our nation as though it were my own? I believe the future of America hangs on the answer to that question," she said.
