Apple always insures that its audience has a new version of whatever product that it carries, and this applies to the iPad, the iPhone, and the latest Apple Watch.  This year will be the unveiling of another iPhone with the iPhone 7, assuming that Apple follows its numbering tradition and calls its smartphone that.  As far as the Apple Watch is concerned, the company could be rolling out a follow-up or sequel to the smartwatch, the Apple Watch 2.  Here is the latest news and rumors on the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2, with release dates and specs. 

It's pretty clear that the release date for the iPhone 7 will be sometime this fall, as Apple has this tradition where they unveil the new version for the year around this time, possibly in September.  This year, it will not be an "S" model, and the iPhone 7 will have a rework. 

In fact, the International Business Times reports that a leaked photo of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus reveal that there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack. This rumor has been coming for a while, which means that users are going to have to invest in Bluetooth headphones if you want to hear your music in a solo setting.  It is possible that the iPhone 7 will come with a new pair of Bluetooth EarPods that pair and charge through the Lightning port. 

Part of the reason for the headphone jack removal is that Apple wanted to make the iPhone 7 slimmer, and the only way to do that was to just ditch that thick headphone jack.  If it is thinner, then that means a new case, which shouldn't come as any surprise to iPhone users. 

A rear design of the iPhone 7 reveals a dual camera setup with invisible antenna lines.  There are also rumors of wireless charging, which might be smartphone standard in the near future.  Will the screen be bigger or smaller? With the recent unveiling of the smaller iPhone, perhaps Apple is testing out what consumers actually want, and that goes for the Apple Watch as well as their smartphone. 

Speaking of the Apple Watch, there was not much mentioned about the Apple Watch at last March's big event, other than it is the highest selling smartwatch, and they also had some new accessories available for it.  MacWorld states that the Apple Watch 2 might not look different than the first. 

The Apple Watch 2 will be 20 to 40 percent thinner than the first one, and SlashGear reports that it will have an improved battery life, FaceTime Camera, and GPS installed on it.  As far as the Apple Watch 2 is concerned, that might come out before the iPhone 7.  BreatheCast states that it could be unveiled at Apple's WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is scheduled for June 13-17.
