After iPhone 7 was beaten by Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S7 during the Thanksgiving-Black Friday weekend sale, some reports say that the Android devices had better deals. Now, Apple is reported to be reducing its orders for the iPhone 7. But according to sources, it might be caused by the decrease in demand for the latest Apple flagship smartphone.

Sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain disclosed to DigiTimes that the tech giant has begun to reduce orders "as initial sales momentum has started fading." Apparently, the clamor for the jet black variant of the iPhone 7 models has slowly died down. Though Apple benefitted from the Galaxy Note 7 disaster, affected consumers seemed to have moved on.

Furthermore, there's also a decrease in demand in huge markets like China. The figure has significantly dropped down since the iPhone 7's launch months ago. It does not help that there have been alternative smartphone devices from Google, Huawei and Xiaomi that were recently released. Likewise, there have been more excitement and buzz surrounding the upcoming iPhone 8.

The interest of consumers have shifted to the next iPhone set to hit the market next year. This will somehow contribute to the expected decline in shipments of the iPhone 7. Supply chain makers estimates at least five million units less iPhone 7 shipped in the first half of 2017 compared to the second half of 2016.

Apple is not the only one experiencing a setback in its smartphone sales. The whole market has been suffering the same fate. Samsung had a chance to increase its total smartphone market share with the Galaxy Note 7. But it failed to do so because of the whole exploding phone fiasco. The Korean-based company should be thankful for its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge for still putting up good numbers. Otherwise, they would have hit rock bottom. As for Apple, the iPhone 7 was not able to really do much to impact the sales of the US company.

Since the hype is real for the iPhone 8, people have high expectations for the new Apple device. The company is rumored to integrate the phone with innovative features that can compete against its fierce competitions like the Samsung Galaxy S8. Most rumors mentioned that the tech company will finally introduce OLED display to iPhone users. This alone is a major difference from the previous iPhones that have been using LCD display. The said technology will also allow the iPhone 8 to have a curved screen like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or even be foldable. The latter one is based on the fact that Apple has patented a foldable electronic device. This news was released by the US Patent and Trademark Office.

DigiTimes further reported that other market rumors regarding iPhone 8 include glass cases, dual-lens cameras, enhanced CPUs, advanced sensors, mixed reality support and wireless charging technology.
