R&B singer Bobby Brown has opened up for the first time since the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown, and explained that he finds some comfort in the belief that his daughter and her mother, pop legend Whitney Houston, are reunited in heaven.

Speaking to The Real about the tragic death of Bobbi Kristina in July, the singer explained why he kept hoping for a miracle even after doctors said his daughter would never recover.

"We prayed and hoped for six months for something better to happen," Bobby Brown said. "But when God calls you, he calls you."

Brown, who appears in the interview alongside his wife, Alicia Etheredge, also expressed regret that he wasn't at Bobbi Kristina's Roswell, GA home during the events leading up to the near-fatal drowning in her bathtub, The Associated Press reports.

"If I could have been there two days before, it wouldn't have went down like that," he said, explaining that he continues to question what happened that fateful day.

As reported by the Gospel Herald, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive on January 31st and passed away July 26th after spending nearly six months in a medically-induced coma. The 22-year-old aspiring singer was taken off life support and moved to a hospice facility in June as her condition continued to deteriorate.

Bobbi Kristina was buried alongside her mother Whitney Houston in New Jersey. "I'm pretty sure her mother was ... had a part with like, 'Come on, let's get her up here,'" Brown told The Real. "[Houston] was not comfortable by herself, I guess. She just called my daughter with her."

At the time, a family friend told Entertainment TonighBobbi Kristina's death was "very peaceful, quiet, and beautiful."

"Krissy fought to get well for months, however she has succumbed to her injuries," Bobby's lawyer Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC told reporters.

"Krissy was and is an angel," Bobby also told Us in a statement. "I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable."

Whitney Houston was found dead in an eerily similar way three years ago, face-down in a Beverly Hills Hilton bathtub just before the 2012 Grammy awards. The cause of death for the "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" singer was ruled as drowning due to a heart attack brought on by cocaine use.

Following Bobbi Kristina's death, her estate filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against her boyfriend Nick Gordon, alleging that "he gave Bobbi Kristina a toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious and then put her face down in a tub of cold water."

According to NBC News, Gordon was taken in by Houston when he was 12 years old, but never formally adopted. After Houston's death, Gordon and Bobbi Kristina Brown claimed to be engaged, but an investigation has revealed the two were never married.
