This Season of Bones is the tenth one, which is extremely long for any show. It started out with a surprising and sad note with the death of Dr. Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley) getting killed, and it was quite possible that this Season 10 of Bones would have been the end as the finale revealed an interesting "parting of the ways" ending. Fortunately for fans of the show, this is not the case as Bones will have a Season 11, and here is what we know about the Season 11 Release date, as well as a Season 10 Finale Recap.
In case you missed the Bones Season 10 Finale, it could have easily have been a series finale, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry. The show begins as Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) are contemplating their new career moves to the Jeffersonian and the FBI, respectively. They are then called to investigate a body, and it looks like the work of Christopher Pelant, a serial killer introduced in Season 7.
Pelant is dead, so the killer must be a copycat, and the team eventually finds the true killer. Unfortunately, after the case is resolved, there is a video of Pelant saying that he is dead, but not gone, and a "digital afterlife" will keep him going. Booth decides not to watch the rest of the video, and then he packs up his stuff to leave, hugging everyone good-bye.
Considering all that closure in the Bones Season 10 Finale, what could possibly be in store for Season 11? Well, this is not the first time something like this has been done as Season 5 saw all the characters going their separate ways, and then reuniting for Season 6. There was a time-jump then, and there will be a time-jump for the Season 11 premiere as well, according to the Inquisitr.
The whole reason why the episode was written like a finale was because it could have actually been a finale. At the time of its writing, the show had not been renewed, and the show wanted to give a sense of closure in case it wasn't.
From what Executive Producer Stephen Nathan told Entertainment Weekly, there is still a lot in store for Season 11. He has stated: "How the hell do we get these two people back while being true to everything that made them leave? That's what will be interesting and surprising about the top of Season 11, and that's why doing these big moves is always so interesting to us and so much fun. It forces you to see the characters in a new way. It forces you to realize that there are expectations that always fall short of reality."
One of the big questions is who will be taking over Brennan's new job. The Executive Producer Stephen Nathan told TVLine that the answer to this question will be in Season 11, but he did not say if it will be a familiar face or new character. So will the legacy of Pelant come up in Season 11? That is most certainly one possibility that will probably occur. They will have to fill an entire season with some new storylines, after all.
Season 11 of Bones returns to FOX on Thursdays at 8:00 PM sometime in the fall, but there is no word of an exact release date.
