Over a week after Brad Pitt confirmed his divorce with Angelina Jolie, the actor passed up the chance to promote his upcoming film, ‘Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey,’ which premieres in theaters on October 7. Due to the divorce, the award-winning star took some time off from public appearances and decided to focus on his family’s current situation.

“Terrence’s ‘Voyage of Time’ is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time,” Pitt told Access Hollywood. “I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”

Pitt takes on the role of the narrator for Terrence Malick’s documentary film that takes a look at the birth of the universe and life on Earth. The movie will be made available in two versions- one feature-length cut will be narrated by actress Cate Blanchett while the 40-minute version will be narrated by Pitt.

Meanwhile, the 52-year-old actor has reportedly taken a drug test voluntarily following alleged investigations for child abuse, proving that he “has nothing to hide” when it comes to any drug use, a source tells ET.

"Brad Pitt voluntary took a drug test and was not asked to do so by authorities," the insider said. "They didn't force him to take one because it wasn't part of the process."

Last week, Pitt released an official statement to People magazine that he and Jolie would be having a divorce.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt said, referring to his six children with Jolie. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

Jolie’s attorney also confirmed the separation, saying, “Angelina Jolie-Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”

Moreover, the mother-of-six’s manager released a second statement, saying that Jolie only aims to carry out the things that are best for her family and that she “appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”

The humanitarian actress filed for divorce supposedly after an argument that took place while her family was traveling on a private plane from France to the United States.

Meanwhile, after actress Jennifer Aniston was dragged into the Brad-Angelina divorce drama, actress Courteney Cox has come out to support and defend her friend and former ‘Friends’ co-star.

"It's not about [Jennifer Aniston]. I feel like we're exacerbating it by even talking about it," Cox said at Revlon's Annual Philanthropic Luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Aniston's husband Justin Theroux has also expressed his disapproval of everyone who has taken a stab at his wife and has dragged her into the issue.

"There's an endless appetite for trash, apparently – though everyone would say that they don't have that appetite. But I think a lot of people do because people buy it,” the ‘Girl on the Train’ actor said, adding: “It's shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world.”

Pitt and Jolie exchanged wedding vows August 2014 after getting to know each other on the set of their movie ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ in 2005. The couple have six children: Maddox (15), Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
