Call of Duty has to be one of the most successful video game franchises, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III, took the FPS fighting action into the future in 2065, and now it will take it another step with a second downloadable content (DLC) with Eclipse.  This is what is known about Call of Duty: Black Ops III Eclipse DLC Release Date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.

According to Ubergizmo, Call of Duty: Black Ops III second DLC is going to arrive on April 19th.  For those that want to get it, there is a little bit of a hitch as the DLC will only be available on Sony's PS4.  Considering that the game is available on the Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, as well as the older generation Xbox 360 and PS3, those who play on those platforms are probably a little disappointed.  The Eclipse DLC is due to arrive on the Xbox One and PC sometime in May.

We have reported before that the Xbox Exclusivity deal has ended.  For the last five years, Call of Duty has primarily dominated the Xbox due to a deal with Microsoft giving the Xbox players access to exclusive content, but since the announcement at E3 2015, all DLC for Black Ops 3 will arrive on the PlayStation 30 days before any other console.

Gotta Be Mobile says that Treyarch (makers of the game along with Activision) had a live stream event to announce the Eclipse Black Ops 3 DLC map pack with one remake, three completely new maps and a new Black Ops 3 Zombies experience set on an island.  The Zombie experience, also known as Zetsubou No Shima, is one that Jason Blundell of Treyarch calls "fundamentally disturbing."

The maps include the following:

  • Verge, a remake of Bonsai from World at War, set in a desolate wasteland where two forces fight over water.
  • Spire, a futuristic space airport that is set on a raised spire.
  • Rift, a futuristic military complex on a volcano, and encourages the players to fight possibly without flanking.
  • Knockout, a Shao Lin Temple Recreation on a private island, created by someone who loved Kung Fu and the 70s.

The new Eclipse DLC may also come with a new Black Ops 3 specialist to the game, with possible specialist power to steal a specialist weapon with new voices linked to it.  There could also be some new Black Ops 3 weapons, but they might not be tied to the new DLC.

The first Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC was the Awakening, which arrived in February for the PS4 and March for almost all platforms.  It is free for the weekend on PS4, and the DLC will be available for the PS3 next week on April 5th, and it will be the only DLC coming to the older generation console.  This DLC contained four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombies map known as Der Eisendrache.

The Black Ops 3 DLC Eclipse will cost $14.99 as a standalone purchase.  Players can also pay $49.99 for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Season Pass that includes the Awakening DLC, the Eclipse DLC, as well as two more upcoming DLCs.
