Fans of the Resident Evil gaming franchise will be rejoicing now that Resident Evil 2, a game that is almost twenty years old, will be getting a complete Remake from Capcom. This is what is known about the Capcom Resident Evil 2 Remake Release Date and other news.

According to Videogamer, the remake of Resident Evil 2 will be a complete remake of the original game, only made for modern platforms. The remake for Resident Evil 2 is produced by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who was also the producer for the Resident Evil HD remake.

It is pretty common for older video game titles to make their way back into new generation systems, and fans have been wondering if this one would. With graphical adaptations on this complete remake, the updated version of Resident Evil 2 could be quite a game.

The Express reports that the update of Resident Evil 2 was given the green light due to "the success of past projects and the well of fan support to see it come to fruition". Director Hirabayashi has stated: "You've been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen... until now! We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."

For those that are not familiar with the Resident Evil games, it is probably one of the biggest video game franchises in the world. It has spawned five movies based on its universe and over 20 gaming variations of it throughout the past two decades since the first game was released back in 1996. The Resident Evil video game franchise is full of action, adventure, and horror as the world is full of zombies and other horrific monsters that stem from the release of the T-virus, a biological weapon created by the Umbrella Corporation.

The original Resident Evil game was produced by Shinji Mikami, who created the series, and it was directed by Hideki Kamiya, and these two might be involved in the remake of the game. Resident Evil 2 was launched on the original PlayStation back in 1998 and focused its action on protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they attempted to escape the fictional Raccoon City, which was overrun by zombies. It is most remembered due to its larger scope as well as the intertwining scenarios between the two lead characters.

So far, the formats for the Resident Evil 2 remake have not been announced, but it is expected that it will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, as well as PC platforms. The release date is also yet to be confirmed. It is unusual for a major announcement from a big video game company to come without some of this information, but a representative from Capcom has said: "As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don't have any additional information or assets to share at this time. For now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we've received on this title. We're looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for."
