Bernie Herms, husband to CCM artist Natalie Grant, has said the thyroid surgery his wife recently underwent to remove tumors "went perfectly" and thanked fans for their prayers.
Herms shared an update regarding his wife's health on Facebook: "Hey everyone - it's Bernie, Natalie's husband," he wrote. "She is awake and her surgeon said everything went perfectly. Hallelujah! God is faithful and kind. Thx for your prayers. We are so grateful for your love and support. We will update with news as we receive it."
As of Tuesday evening, the post has received over 22,000 "likes" and hundreds of comments from fans sharing prayers and words of encouragement.
Wrote one fan: "Dear Jesus, We thank You for Natalie's successful surgery. We ask for good results and for her healing to amaze her! Please bring her voice back stronger than ever! May her voice continue to reach others for You. We will give You all the glory and honor as she sings songs for You and to You again. Thank You, Lord. We love You! ~Amen."
Wrote another, "Thanks for sharing this personal information with total strangers. As a fan of her music I am grateful she allows us a peek into y'alls life. My family is lifting your family to our Father in prayer."
In a Facebook live video shared earlier on Tuesday, Grant, who last month announced that doctors discovered "two of the tumors on the right side of my thyroid decided to not stay unconcerning," revealed she was "literally on the car on the way to the hospital" to undergo surgery.
"I just wanted to quickly get on and tell you that as I head into the hospital and head into the surgery, my heart is full to overflowing from the encouragement and the prayers that I have received from so many of you," she said. "I just feel so much love from all of you...I'm going to keep you guys posted because you're on this journey with me, and I'm so grateful for that."
The award-winning singer said that many fans have told her they stayed up all night fasting and praying for her.
"I'm overwhelmed by the love and the beauty of the family of God," she said. "I feel like though I have so much faith, even if I didn't, your guys' faith is enough. Your faith has strengthened my own...I feel like I'm being carried by all of you."
The "King of the World" singer said she told her three daughters she's "nervous" to undergo surgery, but she's "not full of fear."
"I'm human, but I'm not afraid because my God has already gone before me and has already made a way," she said. "So, I am not afraid and I am full of peace, and so much of that is because of all of you. I love you guys I will keep you posted...I am so thankful to be in the family of God with you."
Grant previously explained that even if doctors diagnose her with thyroid cancer, it is usually very treatable and can be completely cured.
"Though I'm not even declaring that, because I have complete faith in my God. He never goes back on his word and he never breaks his promises. The promises that he didn't just make to me, but that he made to my mom when I was in her womb about how my voice would be the voice to the nations. He is not going to break his promise. That's just who he is."
While she will take some time off to recover from the surgery, Grant's "Celebrate Christmas" tour with Danny Gokey is still planned to launch on Nov. 30
