Actress Chloe Grace Moretz will be saying goodbye to making Hollywood films for now but will come back when she feels she is ready.
At the Deauville Film Festival, the young star received the Rising Star award and was vocal in sharing her future plans. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moretz revealed that she had dropped out from her future projects, such as ‘The Little Mermaid,’- Disney’s latest live-action remake of the classic fairytale.
"I pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again. I'm realising that I can slow down," the 19-year-old actress explained.
She had already finished filming for crime drama film ‘November Criminals’ as well as ‘Brain on Fire,’ a biographical drama based on Susannah Cahalan's memoir of the same title, earlier this year.
She further opened about her decision to E! Online, drawing attention to her plan of not necessarily exiting the film industry but spending time exploring her career to come up with effective performances.
"I'm just becoming more picky and particular about what roles I'm choosing. I think as an actor you have a huge opportunity to find yourself through the roles that you choose,” the Atlanta native said. “I think it's my time, right now in my life, to figure out who I am and what I am and what I want and what this industry means.
Moretz further urged her critics to put a stop to the unfair comments about her as a celebrity.
"Obviously I'm put on a pedestal and seen above all. But I think every person's story is true to themselves," she said at a press conference at the Toronto Film Festival for ‘Brain on Fire.’
"It's hard to have someone pick apart everything you say. That's why this movie will hopefully crack people's minds open and tell them to stop just judging and taking someone for something they're not, when you don't even know who they are," the actress added.
Moretz has recently taken steps of independence, breaking up with beau Brooklyn Beckham- son of David and Victoria Beckham. In an interview with Glamour UK magazine, the ‘Neighbors 2’ star was clearly frustrated of not being referred to by the media in her own identity.
"Seriously, you don't know how often I'm just described as 'his girlfriend'," Moretz said, "and you think, 'well, I've also been acting for 13 years, but don't worry'."
The young actress recently graced the cover of the Teen Vogue October/November issue, which will hit shelves on Sept. 27. She opened up to actress Julianne Moore about expressing her thoughts, going through social media and dealing with young love.
“This year especially, I had to realize that it’s OK to ask for help- it’s OK to not know," she said. "As a young woman, you feel like you really need to have everything figured out- but it’s all right to say, ‘I don’t know. I have absolutely no idea.’”
