Christian NFL star Russell Wilson and R&B star Ciara have officially tied the knot after just over a year of dating. The couple, who got engaged in March, wed at Peckforton Castle in England on Wednesday and confirmed the news on social media, sharing a photo of their happy day with the caption, "We are the Wilsons!"

The wedding took place in front of 100 of their closest friends and family members, according to TMZ. The bride wore a custom lace gown by Roberto Cavalli and carried a bouquet of white flowers, according to USA Today.

The couple first revealed they were dating while at the White House for a state dinner, when Wilson arrived with the "I Bet" singer. Their relationship made headlines last year after Wilson revealed during an interview with San Diego's Rock Church that the two were abstaining from sexual activity because they want to honor God with their relationship.

"I will never forget she was on tour, she was traveling and I was looking at her in the mirror, sitting in her dressing room, she was getting ready to go, about 15 minutes before she went on stage," Wilson said when asked about the decision during a Q&A session last July.

"She was sitting there and God spoke to me and said 'I need you to lead her ... I told her right then and there. What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table and just do it Jesus way ... because if you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody," he said.

Ciara - who was previously engaged to rapper Future and has a son with him- met the Seattle Seahawks quarterback in 2015. Wilson, 27, was previously married to Ashton Meem from 2012-2014.

Wilson later revealed that he believes God led them to each other, as both had endured previous heartache.

"For me, I knew that God had brought me into her life to bless her and for her to bless me and to bless so many people with the impact that she has, that I have," he said.

While they hope to honor God with their relationship, Wilson warned that he and Ciara are not going to be "perfect by any means." "Life's not perfect, nobody's perfect, but he's anointed both of us, and I know that he's calling for us to do something miraculous, something special."

At Fashion Week in February, Ciara also opened up about the decision. "We're hanging in there," she told Cosmopolitan.com. "I'm not gonna lie. I'm human, so it is not easy, especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen - that I've ever laid my eyes on, to be honest. I'm like, Look the other way! Look the other way!"

She added: "But he's such an awesome guy and the cool thing is that every day, we're growing with each other. We get to have really healthy conversations and focus on each other as people."
