The matchup for the championship game in the Copa America 2015 tournament has been set. On Saturday, Argentina will take on Chile, which has the home field advantage in Santiago. Check the listing of online streaming broadcast channels of the Chile vs. Argentina game below.
According to Jesse Lawrence of Forbes, the matchup between Chile and Argentina has led to ticket prices for the game on the secondary market to start as high as $900. That's because the winner will receive an automatic qualification spot for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia as well as bragging rights in South America.
"Argentina enters this match with a squad of explosive players," Lawrence wrote. "Lionel Messi boasts an otherworldly resume as he will be making his 103rd appearance in Saturday's final, fifth-most in Argentinean history, and ranks second all-time for his country in scoring with 46 goals."
According to Pascal Lemesre of Sports Mole, Argentina has won the Copa 14 times. A win on Saturday would tie them with Uruguay as the competition's most successful ever country in that tournament.
"Their record in Copas hosted in Chile is also superb - they have never failed to reach the final, winning it four times and finishing as runner-up on two occasions," Lemesre wrote. "They are, however, without a major competition win since the 1993 Copa in Ecuador, losing last year's World Cup final to Germany in extra time."
As for the host nation, Chile, Lawrence thought that their team would need "a top-notch performance from their best players if they want to get the victory."
"[Chile] Captain Claudio Bravo will need to have a flawless performance to ensure a win as the goalie and Barcelona teammate of Messi has a tough task ahead of him," Lawrence wrote. "Midfielder Arturo Vidal will share the weight of team-leading responsibilities with Bravo."
Lemesre reported that Chile has never won a major international tournament in their history. However, they have come close in various soccer tournaments.
"They have hosted the World Cup and Copa America on seven occasions and never not reached the semi-finals on their own turf," Lemesre wrote. "The Chileans have also been runners-up at the Copa on four occasions, the last of which came in 1987 when they fell to Uruguay in the final."
According to Lemesre, Chile has beaten Argentina just once in over 14 matchups on the football field. Based on that fact, Lemesre predicted that this year's Copa champions would be Argentina.
"Argentina have the magician that is Messi, and it's hard to bet against the scampering genius," Lemesre wrote. "A draw in 90 minutes is likely, but we're backing La Albiceleste to edge extra time to equal Uruguay's Copa record of 15 wins."
Regardless of which team wins on Saturday, Lawrence thought that the Copa America title "would bring indefinable glory to the people of the victorious nation as well."
