It is interesting that Marvel created not one, not two, but four shows that are inspired from Marvel comics, and take place within that same universe established in The Avengers movies and all the characters related to it.  So now that Daredevil Season 2 is over, the big question is what will happen with other shows like Jessica Jones Season 2, as well as other shows like Luke Cage and Iron Fist.  Soon, all of these characters will be teaming up on The Defenders, and this is what is known about the release date for that.

Daredevil Season 2 had a lot in its place with The Punisher and Elektra.  Although The Punisher plot was resolved almost to the point that he could get his show, there were various story elements about Black Sky, the Hand ninja organization, and big pit that was never explained.  It is possible that these plot threads were purposely left uncut so they could be developed in later series.

As it was, Daredevil and Jessica Jones had very little to join them together, with only mentions that showed that they took place in the same universe.  Seeing Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) talk with Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) was a good crossover.

The end of Daredevil Season 2 saw a teaser trailer for Luke Cage that didn't show much but the man in action, and how he is resistant to bullets.  Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who was just introduced in the first season of Jessica Jones, will have his story.

According to Fansided, Luke Cage will have to have to face a villain known as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Mahershala Ali).  Also, in the case will be veteran actress Alfre Woodard, along with Simone Missick as Misty Knight, plus Theo Rossi as Shades, as well as Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe.  Another character that will appear is Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, aka The Night Nurse.  This character has appeared in both Daredevil and Jessica Jones and knew about all of these superheroes, including Cage.   Claire Temple will have her mother on the show, Soledad played by Sonia Braga.

There isn't a lot of information released on the pilot except this synopsis:  "After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city-forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury."  So it is possible that the show takes place before Jessica Jones, and we'll find out on September 30 when it premieres on Netflix.

As for Iron Fist, we know that Finn Jones will play the lead character Danny Rand.  According to iDigitalTimes, Jessica Henwick will play Iron Fist's ally, Colleen Wing, and there should be another character added with Shang-Chi, Marvel's "Master of Kung Fu" who has not been cast yet.  The interesting thing is that Colleen Wing and Misty Knight are close friends in the comic book source material, so this could be how these two series tie-in.

Eventually, these characters have to meet up on The Defenders somehow, so the more tie-ins that these shows can have, the better.
