Dark Souls III and Collectors Editions Release Date and Other Big News

By Mark Rollins

The Souls video game series will come to a close with the release of Dark Souls III, and as the last game gets closer to its official worldwide release date, Bandai Namco dropped some interesting news about something big coming.  What it dropped turns out not to be anything earth-shaking to the point of creating something new as far as game content is concerned, but fans might appreciate it.  This is everything that is known about Dark Souls III and Collectors Editions Release Date and Big News.

There a lot of Internet chatter after a tweet from Bandai Namco saying there would be some "big" news related to Dark Souls.  Shack News had some speculations such as some information on areas, bosses, enemies, and release dates for some downloadable content (DLC).  Perhaps it would be a remaster of Demon's Souls (the actual first game in the Dark Souls series), but it would definitely not be a sequel.  That word comes from Dark Souls and Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki, and it was thought that the big news would be about his next new game.

Well, as it turns out the big announcement is some merchandise.  Yes, Kotaku reports how disappointed they are, and there might be some kind of fan backlash, but these are the fans that probably want that type of merchandise.  The merchandise can be found on the Bandai Namco site and features a lot of T-shirts, hoodies, caps, as well as a lot of T-shirts with all the Dark Souls 3 memes on it.

Dark Souls III has been receiving a lot good reviews, such as 5 stars on the Express and IGN, and the game has a notorious reputation for being incredibly difficult.  In fact, the IGN game summary describes the world of Dark Souls III has fallen into some very perilous times as "players will travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse".

Dark Souls III was already released in Japan on March 24, 2016, but it will arrive worldwide on April 12, 2016.  The Apocalypse edition of Dark Souls III is only available for pre-orders only, and it comes with the game, a metal case, and the official soundtrack on CD.

The Prestige Edition comes with the game, a number 40 centimeter Lord of Cinder hand-painted polystone resin figurine, a Red Knight figurine, an A4 Dark Souls trilogy hardcover artbook, metal case, the official soundtrack on CD, 3 iron-on patches, a cloth game map, and an exclusive display case.

The Collector's Edition has the game, a Red Knight figurine, an A4 Dark Souls Trilogy hardcover artbook, metal case, the official soundtrack on CD, 3 Iron-on patches, a cloth game map, and an exclusive box.
