Destiny Pre-Order at GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart: What Editions Are Available?

Destiny Pre-Order

With Destiny being one of the hottest-anticipated videogame titles for this fall, pre-order shortages have been widely reported on the web. Just how serious is this problem?

Here is a guide that will explore the situation amongst the top venders offering the game for pre-order. Please note that this report will not focus on the Standard Edition and the Destiny Expansion-Pass version, which are generally in good supply at every major retail chain.

The article will also not cover the availability of Destiny Ghost Edition, which has sold out virtually everywhere. However, Ghost Edition pre-orders are being auctioned on eBay with bids starting in the $300-$400 price range. Gamespot recently reported that one such auction ran as high as $1,0250 USD.

Destiny is coming to Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles on Sept. 9, 2014. There has been no official word from Bungie in regards to a PC version of the game.

Best Buy

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, Best Buy cancelled a number of Destiny Limited Edition pre-orders due to supply shortages. Affected customers were given $50 store credit, and were advised to pre-order either the Standard Edition or the Digital Guardian Edition instead. A disappointed consumer vented his or her frustration on the official Destiny subreddit.

An inspection of the Best Buy online store confirms that the Destiny Limited Edition is sold out across the board. Happily, the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition is available for the PS4 and PS3 as digital downloads. Curiously, the Limited Edition for the PS3 is listed as available, though it is not clear if this information is accurate.

Amazon

Amazon currently has the Limited Edition version for the Xbox 360 only. All other versions of the Limited Edition are unavailable. Just like Best Buy, the online bookstore is offering the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition for the PS4 and PS3 as a digital download.

GameStop

Fortunately, GameStop is offering all four console-variations of the Limited Edition. The Destiny Digital Guardian Edition is available for the PS4 and PS3 as a digital-copy.

Walmart

Walmart is accepting pre-orders for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3 version of Destiny Limited Edition. Only the PS4 version of the Limited Edition is unavailable. The nationwide retailer is not offering the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition at this time.
