The current ‘Duck Dynasty’ season will reportedly be its last after news reports have come up regarding the cancellation of the TV series.

Several members of the Robertson family along with the A&E network have confirmed during the new season’s premiere last November 16 that this will be the final installment of the reality TV show.

“After 5 years, 130 episodes and one of the biggest hits in the history of cable, the Robertson family and A&E jointly decided that Duck Dynasty, the series, will come to an end after this season,” they stated in the clip.

Willie Robertson’s wife, Korie, explained that it was their decision as a family that they are cancelling ‘Duck Dynasty.’ They could return, though, for a special episode; the season 11 finale has already been set for Apr. 21, 2017.

In an interview with People, Korie says that after their five years on TV, “it feels like it’s time” to end the series.

“We’re happy to kind of move on to another chapter, but also, we’re like, ‘Awe, we’re gonna miss this,’ ” the 43-year-old reality star shared.

As pointed out by Entertainment Weekly, ‘Duck Dynasty’ season 11 will run until January 18 with a short break before proceeding to the last seven episodes, which will air from March 1 to April 12.

According to Korie, letting the public know about their decision is “a little bittersweet,” while adding: “We just had such amazing support from fans.”

The mother-of-three also promised viewers that there will be plenty of fun and teasing on ‘Duck Dynasty’ season 11, adding that their adopted son, Rowdy, will be making a regular appearance.

“We’re gonna introduce him a little bit more this season,” she shared. “His adoption was final in September and we filmed all of that and it was just an amazing moment.”

During its run for five years, ‘Duck Dynasty’ became the most-watched nonfiction show in cable history. However, its cancellation could be attributed to a significant drop in its ratings along with the cast members’ busy schedules not relating to the series.

Sadie Robertson, Willie and Korie’s daughter, took part in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and made an appearance in the movie ‘I’m Not Ashamed.’ Willie also took some time to campaign for Donald Trump and attended as many events as he could. The 44-year-old businessman also wrote a book, and other family members such as Miss Kay, Uncle Si, John Luke and Alan Robertson followed closely with their own published works.

The ‘Duck Dynasty’ season 11 finale is set to air on Apr. 12, 2017 on A&E.
