The Robertson family has prepared the first episode to feature Willie and Korie's adopted daughter Rebecca Robertson, who has until now remained mostly behind the scenes.
According to A&E's synopsis of the premiere, Rebecca returns home from her internship in Los Angeles, and the Robertson family plans a big surprise party to welcome her back. Willie becomes concerned when he thought that his foster daughter, who was an exchange student from Taiwan, has no plan for her future. When he tried to find out how Rebecca plans to earn her keep as a member of the household, the Duck Commander CEO is happily surprised to discover that she is a real go-getter, much like him.
Meanwhile, Uncle Si gets sick, and he seeks the help of Ms. Kay to take care of him. However, Phil takes issue with Si when he takes over Kay's living room.
Rebecca wrote on her blog, "Welcome to the Duck & Dressing blog! It's a new year and just wanted to start a new adventure so that maybe I can share some of the fun behind the scenes stuff that goes on around the store and also share some of the styles that we are featuring. We've been working around the clock getting the store running but we've been having some fun too!"
According to the Montgomery Advertiser, Sadie Robertson, biological daughter of Willie and Korie, was a featured speaker at a fundraiser for Prattville Christian Academy.
She said the family decided not to address the controversy surrounding her grandfather, Phil Robertson, who was "indefinitely suspended" by A&E in December after he stated in an interview with GQ Magazine that he believed homosexuality is sin. He referred to the Bible and made comments that the family later admitted were coarse, but which they also said they generally supported. However, Phil was later reinstated.
"We will say we're really glad for us all to be back together as a family because (he's) the leader. We couldn't do anything without him," said Sadie.
As for the new season, Sadie promises much comedy. "I laughed so hard I cried a couple of times. Coming up, we have this paintball gun episode and it is hilarious, by far my favorite episode, probably."
Duck Dynasty 5th season has already been filmed and is set to be the most popular yet. Fans can watch the show on live online stream free after it has been aired on A&E's website.
