Famed “Duck Dynasty” star Jase Robertson said Wednesday that he was a victim of “facial-profiling” when he was kicked out of a hotel where he was staying at in New York City because an employee mistook him for a homeless man.

“The first thing that happened to me at the hotel was I got escorted out,” said Robertson, who and his Louisiana clan is known for their long beards, at Wednesday morning’s “Live! With Kelley and Michael.”

Robertson said the employee did not recognize who he was. “I asked where the bathroom was and he said, ‘Right this way, sir.’ He was very nice, he walked me outside, pointed down the road and said, ‘Good luck.’”

“So I circled back around and my wife said, ‘What happened?’ and I just said I just got kicked out.”

Robertson, who is a devoted Christian, took the situation with stride and continued to stay at the hotel despite the misunderstanding.

Robertson’s family is the star of the A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” the most-watched non-fiction series telecast in cable history as of Wednesday’s season premier that drew over 11.8 viewers.

The show’s popularity makes it “more than just a reality show, it is a cultural phenomenon,” said David McKillop, General Manager and Executive Vice President of A&E.
