"Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson has spoken out against gun control, arguing that the push for more regulation is simply an attempt to blame something else for larger failures in society.

Appearing on Fox News's Outnumbered on October 27, the reality TV star stated, "Guns are regulated. If you go to buy a gun, believe me,  it's regulated. Guns are in hands of mostly good people, just like police officers are mostly good people. Yes, there are bad ones. But you can't make a sweeping take-away-the-whole-Second- Amendment over this."

Referring to Democratic leaders who push gun control after every shooting, Robertson said, "The problem [is] they keep looking at something else to blame, which is the guns."

He referenced in particular the tragic incident at Oklahoma State University on October 24, when a 25-year-old woman with a history of mental illness barreled into spectators at a homecoming parade, killing 4 and wounded 50.

"God forbid we find out that that car that just went through that parade," he said. "God forbid she has mental illness and that's why she just ran her car through. Are we taking cars away now? Because they can be just as lethal [as guns]."

Willie Robertson is not the only member of the large "Duck Dynasty" clan to defend Second Amendment rights.

Shortly after the Oregon school shootings earlier this month, Willie's brother, Jase, voiced his support for such freedoms but said he understands why some are in favor of increased gun control.

"My first reaction is, I'm real compassionate, even with people that have different views than I have," he told PEOPLE at the time. "When you see something like this, you realize, 'Okay, everyone is upset. No one wants this to happen.' We want this to stop. It's terrible. It's excruciating to watch."

The A&E star added that while he finds shootings horrific and wants them to stop, but he doesn't think creating gun-free zones is the answer.

Noting that "everyone" living around him in Louisiana owns a gun, Robertson said, "I'm really not worried about somebody breaking in my house because people just know we're armed and we're dangerous."

But he admitted, "It's a tough situation because it's hard to defend against, you know, one crazy guy or evil intention. But it breaks our heart every time this happens."

He later told the Blaze, "In my opinion I think, the more people that are armed with good intentions, the better off you are...It just seems its giving power to people with evil intentions if they can go to a gun free area and they are the only ones with a gun."

In 2013, "Duck" patriarchs Phil and Si Robertson contended that U.S. citizens don't need gun control - they need a different kind of control

"It ain't gun control we need; it's sin control," Si Robertson told Men's Journal magazine in a group interview.

Added Phil, "Self-control and sin control."
