Although the infected man on the commercial airline was asymptomatic, he was running a high fever and vomiting when admitted to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. The patient was placed into "strict isolation" at the hospital and was tested for Ebola, which has killed more than 3,000 people in West African countries.

Earlier this morning, the CDC considered the man to be at "low risk" for having contracted the Ebola virus, and it was thought that he might have been infected with malaria.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas released a statement saying that it has followed all of the recommendations of the CDC to help safeguard hospital staff, patients, and visitors against the spread of the virus.

A representative at the hospital said that the CDC will hold a news conference at 4:30 p.m. CST.
