Just ahead of Election Day, Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure discussed the importance of electing a president who will appoint conservative justices to the Supreme Court, as they will shape the future of America for generations.
During a November 4 segment of "The View", the "Fuller House" star explained to her co-hosts why, as a Christian, she believes the Supreme Court is one of the most crucial issues in the current election.
"All the decisions that will be made under Supreme Court justices will last a lifetime," she said, while the next president might only be in office for four years.
The actress added that the next president's nominees to the high court could hold the potential to "change the direction of the country" and warned that "if we have liberal people in there, they can decide against our constitutional foundations."
She further shared her thoughts on the issue in a recent podcast with "The Church Boys": "The biggest thing for me is the Supreme Court justices... because, no matter who wins this election, it's four years, maybe eight, if they're reelected, but that's the maximum," she said.
"The Supreme Court justice seats will be until those people die - and that could be a very long time."
Bure has not revealed who she'll back on November 8th, but earlier said she planned to vote - even though she isn't thrilled with either candidate.
"I've talked about how conflicted I am," she said. "I'm not happy with the ultimate choices that we're left with, but I'm still going to go out there and vote because I do believe that it's my right. And I think there are other things we have to consider."
She added, "And then there's the congressional power. There's also the seats in Congress. And I think a lot of people who don't show up to vote for the president then forget that there's all these other people we get to vote into Congress. So you're giving up so much just because you don't like the candidate choices."
But whatever the outcome on Election Day, Bure said her faith is in Jesus Christ - not in any earthly ruler.
"I'm not a political expert, but I'm an American, and I hold conservative values," she said during a recent appearance on Fox & Friends. "I think at the end of the day, I realize I put my faith in Jesus Christ, not in any one person, and whoever becomes our candidate, our nominee and eventually our president, I will pray for them and support that they will make the best decisions for our country that they can."
