Fallout 4 may be Bethesda's most anticipated title for this year, sparking release date speculation and other unconfirmed rumors.  Set in a post-apocalyptic universe, the game will take advantage of next-gen technology present in the PS4 and Xbox One.

There is also no question that the game will debut on PC as well. So, the one mystery that remains is the actual launch date.  Admittedly, there is no shortage of theories and hoaxes on the internet.

Bethesda is certainly keeping a tight lid on information concerning its current projects. Even so, the game developer has already announced on their blog a special press conference set for June 14 in Hollywood, CA (via Tech Times). The same event will also be streamed live on Twitch. Predictably, this announcement has led many fans to speculate whether Fallout 4 will indeed be announced at the said event. It is a safe bet that Bethesda will announce a number of other new titles besides Fallout 4.

Other rumors suggest that there is a likelihood Fallout 4 will be announced at this year's E3 videogame conference. That is a time when many new release titles are confirmed. So, this theory bears some weight. However, Bethesda may simply choose to not debut Fallout 4 at all.

The significance of Fallout 4 not showing up at E3 is that it will less likely hit stores by this year. It usually takes months for AAA games to reach shelves. Since E3 2015 is set for this summer, the latest launch schedule for Fallout will be in November - the start of the holiday shopping season when many major titles are released. Still, it is not within the realm of impossibility for Bethesda to hold back on Fallout 4.

Even so, the general consensus in the gossip circle is that Bethesda is working on Fallout 4. Development rumors began as far back as 2013 when alleged internal documents from Bethesda were leaked and published on Kotaku. The document was apparently a casting call for an unnamed post-apocalyptic game. Naturally, the common assumption amongst fans was that the game was the next installment in the Fallout series. There have been no other significant leaks since then.

Admittedly, Fallout 4 has a lot to live up to in light of the great success of its predecessor Fallout 3 (20008). The more recent Fallout: New Vegas (2010) was generally well-received as well. Naturally, this has caused a division amongst fans regarding which Fallout installment is better. Hopefully, Fallout 4 will be the one game both sides agree is the best.
