Final Fantasy XV is one of those games that has been rumored to have an official release date many times, but a report from Youth Health projects it at early 2015. This confirms a quote from Hajime Tabata of Square Enix, makers of the Final Fantasy games, from GameKult who stated "I can not give the exact date, but I can tell you it has already been set - the final release date and the countries in which it will be released. We are working to release the game on time, but it might take a little more time than you think."

Of course, a quick search of "Final Fantasy XV" on Amazon will reveal that the PS4 version of the game "will be released on December 31, 2015". That is hardly "early 2015", and it looks like the game will definitely miss the Christmas season this year, and next year.

IGN's official description of the Final Fantasy XV game says that is "the story of a young king sworn to defend the last crystal in the world from the 'hectic order' outside of his kingdom. It's a fight between ancient and modern technology, and the struggle of one king to protect the old ways." IGN also found the open world of Final Fantasy XV to be "gorgeous and massive".

Final Fantasy is considered to be one of gaming's most successful franchises such as Halo, The Legend of Zelda, Mario, Tomb Raider, and others that have survived through multiple consoles and eras of video games. The complicated storyline has been developed over decades, and it has even had a computer generated movie called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. There was another computer animated movie called Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which was directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series, but is not really related to the video game series.

The game was intended to be a project that would be exclusive for the PS3 called Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and that was announced at E3 in 2006. E3 is a very large gaming convention that occurs every summer in Los Angeles, and assuming the game does come out late next year, it will probably be available for visitors to play at E3 2015.

So far, the game is planned to be released for both the Sony PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One. As mentioned before, it can be pre-ordered on Amazon now. Let's hope by next year we are not reporting that the game has been delayed yet again until 2016.
