The Final Fantasy 7 remake is overdue in its release date and updates to avid gamers. Square Enix and their Final Fantasy series are nothing short of legendary, and it looks like this long running game franchise is far from dying out. In fact, Final Fantasy 7 has long been the gold standard for the series when it was first released on the Sony PlayStation. Sure, the loading times with CDs were awful, but it was a game that had no equal for a long, long time. Since fashion does go retro from time to time, so too, do video gamers clamor for a blast from the past. New hardware that can deliver old classics in a fresh take are more than welcome, which is why the Final Fantasy 7 remake has garnered plenty of attention to date.
Never mind the fact that Final Fantasy XV is ready to be unleashed, gamers would not mind having a crack at the Final Fantasy 7 remake, too. Word has it that Square Enix are working to complete the game, with 2017 as the targeted release date. In fact, there are rumors going around that the Final Fantasy 7 remake will be released in three parts -- with the first in late 2017.
It would make sense that Square Enix chooses E3 2017 to be the platform of choice in revealing the release date for the Final Fantasy 7 remake. We will simply have to wait and see to find out. According to the Final Fantasy 7 remake producer, Yoshinori Kitase, the three parts of the game will make up the complete game on its own, and it will not go down the route of an episodic structure.
Apart from that, Kitase also revealed that the battle system in the Final Fantasy 7 remake will be inspired by Final Fantasy Dissidia. That should give you a better idea of what to expect when the game finally arrives -- all three parts of it. Sounds like a great way to fully milk the Final Fantasy 7 cash cow, don’t you think so?
Do take note that Final Fantasy XV will have a battle system that is similar to the Final Fantasy 7 remake, so it would be a good primer before the remake arrives next year. Real-time action combat gameplay has been favored over the standard Japanese RPG battle system that the Final Fantasy series is famous for.
So far, with the Final Fantasy XV release date being set some time in November 2016 as opposed to the original September rollout date, this would definitely see a delay in other titles that are still being developed by Square Enix, like Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Naturally, this will in turn affect the Final Fantasy 7 remake release date, or should we say “dates” since it will be revealed across three different segments. Between now and the end of 2017, there should be more than enough Final Fantasy to keep you occupied until the remake of Final Fantasy 7 surfaces.
