Evangelist Franklin Graham has expressed disgust with today's political climate and called on Christians to participate in a "Godly revolution," emphasizing that the only hope for the United States is "Almighty God."

In a Facebook post shared on Monday, Graham, 64, first voiced his disappointment regarding presidential frontrunners Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The former is currently under investigation by the FBI, while the latter has been accused of escalating violence and heated confrontations at his political rallies.

"What America needs is a Godly revolution! Washington is broken," Graham wrote. "Our nation is broken-politically, spiritually, and morally-and our only hope is Almighty God."

Graham, who is the president of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, underscored the urgent need for prayer in today's political climate: "Let us stand together and pray for God to intervene in this country, to forgive us, and to give us another chance."

The evangelist  is currently leading the Decision America Tour, which seeks to engage Americans across all 50 states to hold their hands and pray for our nation. He announced three additional stops: "Tomorrow I'll be in Denver on the Capitol steps to hold a Decision America Tour prayer rally and hope you'll join me. Wednesday I'll be in Santa Fe, and then Friday in Phoenix. May God bless America-again!"

Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, Graham also explained his earlier decision to leave the GOP, explaining he has "no faith" in either political party.

"I'm fed up. I don't think I can go to all 50 state capitals and stand and ask for people to pray and be affiliated with one of the parties," he said. "I don't want people to think, he's doing this for the Republicans or he's doing it for this group or that group. I'm not. I'm doing this for God."

He added, "The only hope for this country is God. And we have taken God out of the political debate. We've taken Him out of the public space. And I want to put Him back in."

The evangelist also stressed on the importance of voting, stating, "I want Christians to not only vote in the national elections, I want them to vote in the state elections and local elections. How important it is to get Christian mayors, to get Christian city council people, to get Christians on the school boards. I want Christians to run for office, and I want them to vote."

Author Jason Benham, who, along with his twin brother was appointed by Sen. Ted Cruz to join his Religious Liberty Advisory Council, recently urged Christians discouraged by today's political atmosphere to remember that ultimately, God's sovereign hand is guiding the upcoming election.

"Regardless of who is in office this time next year, God is still on the throne," he told The Gospel Herald. "We may end up having a candidate winning this election and all of us are just so depressed. But God would look down and say, 'You know what? I'm still in control.'"

He added, "What we do need to know as a nation: When we're electing leaders, it really shows you the state of your culture. If we worship entertainment, then we may very well vote for an entertainer. And if you have an entertainer as a president, well, you can just imagine the circus our country will become. Yet, God is always speaking. This is why it's so important that the church wakes up and gets back to what Martin Luther King, Jr. said the church needs to be, which is the conscience of the state, the conscience of the government."
