Xbox Games with Gold June 2017 lineup confirmed
SpeedRunners, Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed III are just some of the titles that are released for Xbox Games with Gold for June 2017. Microsoft

Fancy what games will arrive this June if you happen to be rocking to the Xbox Games with Gold subscription? The list for free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for Gold subscribers has just been announced, and they will be available as follows.

  • SpeedRunners — June 1-30 (Xbox One)
  • Watch Dogs — June 16 - July 15 (Xbox One)
  • Assassin's Creed III — June 1-15 (Xbox 360 & Xbox One)
  • Dragon Age: Origins — June 16-30 (Xbox 360 & Xbox One)
  • Phantom Dust DLC — June 1 - 30

It goes without saying that owning the Xbox One is far more advantageous if you are part of the Xbox Games with Gold subscription for one obvious reason -- you will end up with four free games each month, thanks to backwards compatibility compared to Xbox 360 owners who will have just a couple of games that they can play with. This just goes to show how having the latest piece of hardware is far more advantageous compared to rocking to an older version of a particular console. The respective release dates for the announced free games will also vary, giving you time to enjoy certain titles for an entire month, while other titles are only available for download for a couple of weeks. June 2017’s pickings are rather impressive to say the least, with titles such as Assassin’s Creed III and Watch Dogs bringing back a level of nostalgia for hardcore gamers, while offering a chance for others who have not enjoyed either titles before to be able to do so -- without having to fork out a single cent. All this for a $60 annual subscription certainly sounds like a difficult deal to turn down.

Now, to have a closer look at the free games available in June 2017. First announced in 2014, SpeedRunners is presented as a multiplayer side-scrolling racing game. To sweeten the deal, it also picked up the Gamer's Voice Award at the SXSW Gaming Awards in 2015.

Ubisoft first rolled out Watch Dogs in 2014, and it actually ended up as a huge hit as word got around. This hacking action game has strong fundamentals, and comes with a slew of new gaming ideas that ensures an extremely memorable open world action game. Of course, since then, the success of Watch Dogs had warranted a sequel that hit store shelves last year, and while Watch Dogs 2 offered more of the same with additional features and unique functions, those who have not given either title a shot would definitely do well not to miss out on the original Watch Dogs.

Assassin's Creed III is part of the now famous Assassin’s Creed franchise (which has also seen a movie spawned off last year in the process). So far, all other Assassin's Creed games have been extremely impressive to say the least, although there would be personal favorites in the series depending on the type of gamer that you are. In Assassin's Creed III, the Desmond storyline comes to an end at last, with players making a return to the era of the American Revolution. It would also be a good time to revisit the Assassin's Creed franchise with word that a new Assassin's Creed title is arriving in the existing fiscal year.

Dragon Age: Origins proves that old is gold, being a game that is now 8 years old. This is definitely a title that will be able to help you waste a few hours without realizing it, and it seems that a new Dragon Age entry is in the pipeline according to a BioWare writer. June 2017 is definitely a fruitful month for Xbox Games with Gold subscribers!
