Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 phablet, which boasts advanced iris scanner and Corning's new Gorilla Glass 5. However, Apple's forthcoming iPhone 7 is poised to rival Galaxy Note 7's cutting-edge features.

Now, we'll give you a comprehensive review of iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7. We'll also give details about their release date, specs, and price.

The Guardian reports Galaxy Note 7 is one of the first smartphones that has iris scanner, which can read user's eyes to unlock the phone. Tests show the infrared iris scanner only takes seconds to set up, and users can unlock Galaxy Note 7 with a glance of either eye. Aside from eye scanner, the device has fingerprint sensor under the home button.

The phablet also sports 5.7in quad HD screen and smooth curved display. It also comes with improved S-pen stylus, which is waterproof and works even if the screen is wet. In addition, the device is protected with IP68 rating body, making it waterproof to depths of 1.5m for 30 minutes.

Inside, Galaxy Note 7 is powered with Exynos 8890 quad-core 2.6GHz and 4GB of RAM. Its 64GB storage is upgradable via microSD card slot.

The full retail price of Galaxy Note 7 is $849.99. Interested buyers can now pre-order it at T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and other leading retailers. The device will be officially launched on August 19.

Now, let's check out the features of the forthcoming iPhone 7. Yahoo Tech reports Apple's new smartphone will have thinner body than the current iPhone 6. In addition, iPhone 7 will have revamped antenna lines, new cameras and 3.5mm headphone port. It will also be a water-resistant device with wireless charging technology.

Inside, it is expected to have the Apple-made A10 processor and a minimum of 32 GB of storage.

Rumors around the internet claim iPhone 7 will only have minor upgrades, because Apple will release an overhauled device next year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original iPhone's release in 2007.

However, we expect the upcoming iPhone 7 will still have a huge boost in terms of internal specs and camera features. The iPhone with 32 GB will be priced around $650, while the iPhone 7 Plus with hefty 256GB will become available for $949.

BGR predicts all models of iPhone 7 will go on sale on Friday, September 16th.
