The 71st Golden Globe Awards will kick off tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills at 8pm ET/5 pm PT. With Tina Fey and Poehler as hosts, the annual Golden Globe Awards will honor the best in film and television selected by Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) on January 12, 2014.
"American Hustle" and the Civil Rights movie "12 years a Slave" are tied for the most nomination bids, but are not competing in the same category.
"American Hustle" will compete in best motion picture, Musical or Comedy, along side "Her," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Nebraska" and "The Wolf of Wall Street."
"12 Years a Slave" will compete along side "Captain Philips," "Gravity," "Philomena" and "Rush " for best motion picture, drama.
Of the best motion picture, Musical or Comedy, nominations, "American Hustle" seems to be the favorite. The David O. Russell film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Amy Adams, already won best picture at the New York Film Critics Circle. Online buzz say that it will most likely be nominated for the Oscars.
Moreover, Amy Adams is nominated in the best actress and Christian Bale for best actor in the music, musical or comedy category.
Many are probably wondering which family-friendly animated film would win the Golden Globes Award 2014. The films entered the competition include "The Croods," "Despicable Me 2," and "Frozen."
The Golden Globe Award 2014 is produced by Click Clark productions in associations with the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. It is viewed in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements.
The formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented kicks off the film industry's awards season, which culminates with the Academy Awards.
