On September 29th, 2015, there will be a big announcement in San Francisco from a tech giant.  I am not talking about Apple, but its competing smartphone/operating system maker Google, and the big announcements are expected to be in the form of the Release Date of Android 6.0, a new Chromecast, and the unveiling of two new Google Nexus devices, which could be the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

Latest on Google Marshmallow roll out

The thing that Android fans really want to see shown off is the finalized release date of Android 6.0, also known as Android M or Marshmallow, the latest update for the operating system.  Marshmallow was already officially unveiled at Google's I/O Developer's conference.  Once Google finally announces its release date, it usually means that the Nexus devices will be the first to have it, and then the update will trickle down on newer Android devices like the ones made from Samsung, LG, HTC, and Sony.

The new upgrade of the Android operating system will bring a new Nexus device.  However, it has been reported by Fortune that this year's event will feature not one, but two new Nexus devices, the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.

Keep in mind, we will find out if that is the official names of these two devices.  From what we know of the Nexus 5X, it is made by LG, and it will feature a 5.2-inch screen, as well as a fingerprint sensor on the back.  Other rumors are that it will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor, up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, USB Type-C with Quickcharge 2.0, up to 64 GB of storage, a 3180 mAh battery, a MediaTek connectivity chipset, front-facing speakers, and a rear power button. As for the cameras, they will be 13 Megapixels on the back and 4 Megapixels in the front.

As for the Nexus 6P, it is made by Huawei and is more of a phablet with a 5.7-inch screen as well as 128 GB worth of storage.  It will also have a Snapdragon 810 CPU and a launch in late Q3 2015.  A leak from PC Advisor shows that the Huawei device has a metal body, Type-C USB, as well front facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Another expected announcement is a refresh of Chromecast, Google's content streaming device.  The possibilities for an upgrade will include improved performance, as well as a new "Fast Play" feature made for users to launch their content from WiFi Connect devices at a faster time.  It also sounds like Chromecast device called Chromecast Audio is going to be debuting at this event, and this will be a device made to connect to a speaker's auxiliary port to allow users to stream music from a phone or tablet.

The event is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 29th, at 9 AM Pacific Time.  It can be watched on Google's YouTube site via live streaming here
