The Green Bay Packers are all set to travel to California to face off against the San Francisco 49ers for the NFL preseason games. According to the Packers' veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he might play for the first time in the preseason on Aug. 26.

Rodgers first started as a backup quarterback for Green Bay from 2005 to 2007. During the 2008 season, he debuted as the team's starter and even led the team to five Pro Bowl victories and one Super Bowl championship.

Since then, he has been the main passer of the Packers. However, he hasn't played at the preseason during his entire career. But, this might change in the upcoming match against the 49ers.

"I think I'm going to play," he said according to Fox Sports. "I'm not sure how long [coach Mike McCarthy] wants me to play, but it'll be good to get out there and get some work with the guys."

As noted by the news site, the 32-year-old athlete has been focusing on his conditioning during training sessions. Through practices, he became used to running fast-paced plays with his teammates.

"Actually, the stuff I'm doing on game day is probably more exertion than I would be doing on the field," he said. "I've just got to be ready to go four quarters, and I'm confident that the work I've put in in the offseason and the work this past month in camp, I'll be ready to go once the season starts."

Although it is not yet clear if Rodgers will be the Packers' starting quarterback in their match against the 49ers, it would be interesting to see him go head-to-head against San Francisco's Jimmie Ward. As noted by Niner Noise, Ward has already went up against Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian at preseason. During those games, Ward didn't seem to feel too challenged by the presence of the opposing teams' quarterbacks.

In the game against Green Bay too, Ward might feel that he has an advantage over Rodgers primarily because the Packers' wide receiver is still out due to a knee injury. But, given the way Rodgers plays, he can still land successful passes no matter who his receivers are.

The game between the Packers and the 49ers will be held at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California at 7:00 pm. It will be live streamed through the NFL Network Online and through the league's Game Pass service.
