There has been much anticipation for the release of Halo 5: Guardians, and the release date has finally been confirmed by Microsoft for an Xbox One exclusivity on October 27th this year, just in time for the holidays. Besides the release date, here is a news update for all things about Halo 5: Guardians.
In case you haven't heard, but the big announcement of Halo 5's release date is confirmed for October 27th. According to Trusted Reviews, Halo 5: Guardians is made by the same developers as Halo 4, and it will be the first in the series to run at 60 fps (frames per second).
According to Geek Snack, details on Halo 5: Guardians are still very scarce, especially when it comes to the story. With the announcement of the release date came two new trailers. None of these trailers show any kind of gameplay whatsoever, but instead focus on some live-action dialogue between the two main protagonists, Spartan Locke and the now iconic Master Chief. The trailers are very much alike, with each one saying how much they want to hunt and kill the other.
A recent report from Movie Pilot has revealed a plotline involving the threat of war, as the Colony worlds are attacked. Master Chief suddenly goes missing and Agent Spartan Locke is sent to find him. However, there are a lot of rumors that Master Chief has become a traitor.
It is possible that the game could have multiple endings, but any revelations of the story will probably take place at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Considering that E3 is often a place for Halo-related announcements, I suppose there could be much said on June 16-18, the date of this year's E3. By this time, Halo fans will really be wanting to know everything they can about the game in anticipation of the game's release date.
Those unfamiliar with video game worlds have at least heard of Halo, the massively successful video game franchise that Microsoft designed to put the Xbox on the map, and it has had four massively successful iterations. Two years ago, at E3, Microsoft announced a new entry in the Halo series, and Halo 5: Guardians had its third and final week of beta testing last January, and it focuses a lot on multiplayer experience in an arena-like atmosphere.
The release of a new Halo offering is very important to Microsoft now, as it will be the first time a Halo game will be on the Xbox One, and will probably be only on the Xbox One. This will make the Halo 5 game exclusive to Microsoft's current-gen system, and will undoubtedly sell many copies of the game and the system for the holiday season.
The Halo 5: Guardians game is planned to be released along with a TV series on Showtime that will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott, according to Tech Times. There has been very little news from that end, but a TV series that could tie-in Halo 4 and Halo 5 would be interesting and really build the mythology of this franchise.
In the meantime, Halo fans will need to wait until October 27th for Halo 5: Guardians, and many will not leave their houses on that day. Let's hope the game will live up to its legacy.
