NBC is bringing back one of its biggest shows from the last decade with Heroes Reborn. It will only be for a 13-epsiode mini-series, but it will pick up when the first show ended back in 2010. This is what is known about the Heroes Reborn Release Date, Trailer, and Cast.
According to NBC, the creator and executive producer Tim Kring of the first Heroes is back to deliver the continuing story of people with extraordinary abilities. Heroes Reborn begins when a terrorist attack in Odessa completely decimated the city, and people blame the EVOs (super-powered beings) for it.
One of the characters from the original Heroes, Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) has come back to deal with the problem, but he is about to discover a dark truth with the help from a conspiracy theorist named Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski). In the meantime, there are ordinary people who are seeking vengeance for Odessa, like Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni) who are shown on the official trailer gunning down a room of people in an EVO support group.
There will be some new super-powered characters introduced such as Tommy (Robbie Kay) who is trying to adjust to his new abilities while chasing a girl of his dreams Emily (Gatlin Green). There is another teenager named Malina (Danika Yarosh) who is told that she is destined for greatness. Then there is Miko (Kiki Sukezane) who is seeking out her father. Then there is a former soldier named Carlos (Ryan Guzman). In the middle of this is Erica (Rya Kihlstedt), who has some mysterious agenda.
In addition to these new characters, some ones from the first Heroes show will be returning such as Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis).
Heroes ran from 2006-2010 on NBC, and its first year was a huge hit. Unfortunately, a writer's strike at the time created a somewhat weaker Season 2, and after Season 4, it was eventually pulled from NBC's schedule. The Season 4 finale ended on a note that could have led to an interesting Season 5. It ended with Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) revealing to the world that she had super-powers, which looked like a Season 5 beginning with the super-powered people being suddenly revealed to the world.
Deadline reports that Tim Kring plans to begin the show five years after the last season, which is precisely in real-time. There will be a digital prequel called Heroes Unborn: Dark Matters, that is intended to bridge the gap between Heroes and Heroes Reborn. According to imdb.com, Heroes Reborn will have its premiere episode on NBC on September 24, 2015 with "Awakening". If it is as big a hit for NBC as it was in 2006, it might merit a season 2, but let's hope it goes better this time.
