Considering that the best-selling video games are tied to a franchise, it is difficult for a new game to really hit the ground running, unless you have something like No Man's Sky.  We have reported that one of the most anticipated games of 2016 is Horizon Zero Dawn, and it is apparent that this game deserves points of great imagination.  For this reason, this game could become a sensation that could lead to massive sequels and its own video game franchise.  This is what is known about Horizon Zero Dawn with its release date, news, and its stunningly cool gameplay.

Before I talk about Horizon Zero Dawn any further, I'm going to just encourage you to just watch a video with the game footage.  As you can see, it focuses its action on a main character named Aloy who is a skilled hunter who knows how to take out big machines that roam the wasteland.

Immediately, the player is drawn in with what they see.  Questions like what happened to the world to create such odd looking mech-forms?  The game shows cities that look slightly more futuristic than what we have today, but something must have shut them down.  All it shows is some kind of big blackout.  If humanity suddenly just lost all electric power, then where in the world did these mechanical beasts come from?

Horizon Zero Dawn feels like a mix of Skyrim, Fallout, and the Halo franchise as it merges a fantasy setting of a hunter/gatherer open world with a wasteland of tech from the far future.  It creates a style that is its own, and it runs with it as nature and machines collide.  It is developed by Guerrilla Games, the creators of the Killzone franchise, and it is their first attempt at a role-playing game.

The game will be released exclusively to the PS4, and it looks like the objective is to figure out what happened to the Earth, according to PlayStation.com.  This involves scouring every corner of the relam with ancient relics and figuring out how the machines have dominated the world, and what is their purpose.

A game like this intrigues the user, promising them the wonder of a really good speculative fiction novel with the action of a good speculative fiction movie in an original environment.  In short, it looks like Horizon Zero Dawn is giving gamers exactly what they want.

As far as the release date for Horizon Zero Dawn is concerned, nothing has been made solid, other than it is coming in 2016.  From what it sounds like, it appears that the game will have a holiday release, and there will be more about it when E3 2016 comes around.  There will probably be a release date then, as well as more information and breathtaking footage.
