House of Cards Season 3 Spoilers, Mostly Involving Doug and Claire

House of Cards

As a series, Netflix's House of Cards had a lot going for it with top actors like Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright on deck, and it was already tried as a successful BBC miniseries. Series on Netflix such as Orange Is the New Black have done very well, and House fans are anxiously awaiting Season 3.

One question that is on everyone's mind is whether or not Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) is actually dead. The show has shown the character motionless with eyes wide open, which would clearly show that the character is not in the best health. As expected, the show is under a lot of secrecy, but Michael Kelly revealed in an interview with the Huffington Post that he hopes Doug is still alive.

The big surprise that is leaving everyone wondering is whether or not the show will follow the original plotline of its BBC inspiration. On that show, Francis Urquhart (Ian Richardson) was killed by his wife Elizabeth (Diane Fletcher) to protect his legacy. The Netflix equivalent of that plotline would be Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) being killed off.

The Netflix show has already introduced a character named Meechum who seems very close resemblance to Commander Corder, the character who killed Urquhart in the BBC series. Also, Claire seems big on keeping her husband's legacy alive, and if killing him would be the only way to preserve it, then perhaps that is what needs to happen.

Of course, shows that are based on other source materials often follow their own direction, just like The Walking Dead AMC series does not precisely follow the The Walking Dead graphic novel series. The issue is whether or not the two series will end up in the same place.

In the case of the Netflix House of Cards series, some have speculated that Claire (Robin Wright) will die. Their open relationship has been the subject of much debate, as well as whether or not Frank truly loves his wife.

As for the political action, Season 3 is planned to have a lot of drama with Russia. In Season 2, there was a lot of suspense with the Chinese government, but it has already been revealed that the show has been trying to film on location in Russia. There are also rumors of a new Russian character being added to the cast, as well as many others.

There are also rumors that ISIS could somehow be involved in Season 3, as well as a possible subplot involving patent reform.

The most hard to believe rumor is that President Obama could actually be a guest star. If so, this would certainly be like the president giving a stamp of approval to this show. Considering that the show depicts politics as a very dirty game, that might not necessarily be a good thing. Of course, shows like House of Cards might not be telling us that corruption in government is a good or bad thing, but it is saying that it is what it is.
