For those who have been wanting the HTC One M8 for the holiday season have received an early Christmas present as the phone has been drastically marked down in price.  This markdown could be a signal that the long rumored HTC One M9 is on the way.

Right now, if you go to Amazon, you can find the HTC One M8 marked down to $0.00-$29.99 with contract from AT&T.  You can find a similar deal on Best Buy, for a price of just $29.99, with varying prices depending on the subscriber. It could be that the reason for these drastic markdowns is to compete with all the Black Friday deals on smartphones such as the iPhone 6.

Or it could be that the markdown of the HTC One M8 is a definite sign that HTC is trying to get what will soon be an old model out of the way, making way for the obvious successor, the HTC One M9.  Digital Trend says that the new HTC One M9 may be announced at 2015's Mobile World Congress.  Considering that most HTC One phones have made their introduction, it stands to reason that it could happen there.  If HTC wanted to get the introduction of the M9 out of the way for next year, there is always CES 2015.

As for as specs go for the M8 go, it is unique for having an all-metal body as well as some patented BoomSound stereo speakers.  It also has a 5-inch 1080p display as well as a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor.  The M8 had some pretty impressive stats before similar phones like the iPhone 6 or Galaxy Note 4 came around.

So what can be expected of the HTC One M9?  Rumors have collected on it for quite a while, such as its anticipated announcement at MWC 2015.  According to PC Advisor, the rumor is that it will have a 5 inch 1080p display, which isn't any change.  On the inside, the M9 will have a Snapdragon 810 chip as well as an octa-core processor with 4 Cortex-A57 cores at 2.0 GHZ and 4 Cortex A53 cores at 1.6 GHz, Adreno 430 GUP and 3GB of RAM.  The HTC One M9 is planned to be very thin at 7 mm, and it has an interesting design shape that is kind of curved in the back, at least according to a concept photo.

I don't think it is too much of a stretch to say that the HTC One M9 will come with Lollipop (Android 5.0) right out of the box.  After all, it has been rumored that the HTC One M8 would be getting this update many weeks ago, but Phone Arena has just reported that the Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 as well as the M7 will be coming out on January 3rd of next year.
