After the announcement of Honor V8 smartphone, Chinese phone maker Huawei is reportedly developing another device. The upcoming Huawei Honor 8 is rumored to have an aesthetically pleasing appearance and top-notch specifications. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about Huawei Honor 8 release date, specs and features. We'll also give details about the rumored Huawei Daydream-ready Nexus device.
Based on the images published in GizmoChina, Honor 8 will sport a 5.2-inch screen, making it smaller than the recently released Honor V8. Honor 8 could have two versions. A leaked document shows the device allegedly has model number FRD-AL00 and FRD-AL10.
The same source from GizmoChina also says the Huawei device is still in development stages and has been codenamed as "Project Faraday."
In terms of design, it will have 2.5D curved glass on both sides partnered with a metallic frame. Industry experts say one of the Honor 8's selling points is its sophisticated and beautiful design. So expect the device is a visual treat.
Similar to the Honor V8 smartphone, the Honor 8 will have a 12-megapixel dual-camera feature. Inside, it will be powered by a Kirin 950 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Several websites say it may have Kirin 955 chipset instead of Kirin 950. Nonetheless, both processors will greatly boost the performance of the device.
Furthermore, the smartphone could provide wireless charging technology and 3,000 mAh battery capacity. It is also expected to have an IR blaster and a USB Type-C port.
Huawei has not yet given the full details about the availability and launching of Honor 8, but Tech Times reported the device will be released this June.
Meanwhile, let's check out the latest reports about the rumored Nexus device from Huawei. In a press conference hosted by The Wall Street Journal, Huawei CEO Richard Yu said the company is working with Google to develop new Nexus device. The CEO doesn't explicitly mention the device will have Daydream-ready feature, but he promises it will be a "VR-compatible smartphone."
Google's new virtual reality platform, DayDream, is set to become available later this year. Compare to Google Cardboard, Daydream is said to offer more immersive virtual reality experience. This VR headset looks pretty similar to Samsung's Gear VR but provides a motion-sensing controller for more action-packed interactive gaming.
Daydream was revealed at Google's I/O conference last month. It is expected the company will reveal more details about the device in the next couple of months.
