Pixar's latest smash hit, Inside Out, the movie that follows the emotions that live inside the mind of a young girl has earned a total $113.9 million so far in the box office. It generated $90 million on its opening weekend, setting the record as the highest-grossing debut of an original movie in history.

Its box office success also cemented Pixar's reputation as the best studio when it comes to original storytelling. There is also a growing clamor for Pixar to release a sequel and do Inside Out 2.

However, Inside Out director Pete Docter and Pixar Animations Studio President Jim Morris quickly shot down the idea. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, there is no plan on the pipeline for another adventure inside Riley's mind. At least not yet.

"There's no sequel idea from me at this point," Docter said and added that he would rather focus on creating more original stories for Pixar. However, he added, "Never say never."

Docter's previous directorial assignments with Pixars were Up and Monsters Inc. Although Monsters Inc., had a sequel, Docter was not part of that movie, said Cinema Blend. Pixar made sequels to its original stories, including Toy Story, Cars, and Finding Nemo, with Cars and Toy Story becoming their own franchises. Finding Dory, a spinoff of Finding Nemo, is scheduled for release on June 17, 2016.

If Inside Out will become another major franchise for Pixar remains to be seen.

Inside Out is set in the mind of a young girl, Riley Andersen (Kaitlyn Dias), where five personified emotions-Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith)-try to lead her through life as she moves with her parents (Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan) to a new city.

"The five emotions guide Riley on her path in life. But when the young girl and her family move to San Francisco, Sadness becomes more prominent. Worse still, a freak accident throws her and Joy into the wilderness of the mind leaving only Fear, Disgust, and Anger to influence Riley. The majority of critics called it one of Pixar's best for placing a spotlight on those lonely kids - or anyone, really - trying to cope with major changes in their lives," Cinema Blend said.

But while a sequel is not yet in the offing, Docter and Inside Out producer Jonas Rivera is talking with Disney to include the characters in the parks. Docter visited Pixar headquarters in Emeryville, California, and discussed his plan with executive of the parks.

However, he said it might take some time before the plan pushes through as it involves an "extremely complicated process' involving a lot of works. Docter remains optimistic visitors of the Disney parks will be able to experience Inside Out characters there.
