iOS 8.3 Jailbreak and Update Problems: Battery and Touch ID Issues on iPhones And iPad Air

Days after iOS 8.3 began rolling out, a number of Apple device owners have reported bugs. Meanwhile, Apple has yet to unveil the iOS 8.3 jailbreak. To be fair, the iOS 8.3 rollout has been relatively trouble-free for many users of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, and iPad 3. However, those unfortunate enough to have encountered issues are voicing their frustrations on social media.

GottaBeMobile recently reported that some individuals have had significant battery drain after installing the iOS 8.3 update. The online tech publication also pointed out that battery issues are common with major iOS update, and that "rogue app or bad habits" are usually the culprits.

Earlier, MacRumors had reported about Touch ID issues. Shortly after iOS 8.3 began rolling out, some users were unable to use Touch ID when purchasing from the App Store. This bug was quietly fixed, and no further Touch ID issues have been reported as of late.

Another problem being reported comes straight from iPhone 4s owners whom have been unable to download iOS 8.3. Not all iPhone 4s have reported such download woes. So, this issue does not seem to be widespread.

With iOS 8.3 roll out more or less completed, Apple has turned its attention over to the upcoming iOS 8.4. On Monday, April 13, AppleInsider reported that Apple has just released an iOS 8.4 beta to developers. One highlight of iOS 8.4 is Apple's new Music app that reportedly comes with a redesigned look and powerful features.

iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Remains Absent

Those with jail broken Apple handsets will not be getting their iOS 8.3 jailbreak any time soon. Keep in mind, that the world has yet to see an iOS 8.2 jailbreak release. It is very likely that iOS 8.2 jailbreak will come out first before the iOS 8.3 jailbreak does.

One reason for the delay comes from Apple's renewed security scrutiny with iOS 8.3. On April 8, Jailbreak developer MuscleNerd tweeted that Apple has fixed 39 security bugs. The jailbreak community exploits security flaws when jailbreaking an Apple device.

Users planning to jailbreak their iPhone or iPad should note the activity is very time-consuming. Whenever there is a new iOS available, users must factory-wipe their devices before installing the update. Once that is completed, the owner must download the new update from Apple before jailbreaking the device.

The amount of time necessary to complete such update may take hours.Casual or new users may want to avoid jailbreaking.
