iPad Mini 2 Might Not Feature Retina Display and Touch ID Yet, But Apple May Surprise All

Apple will feature high-resolution Retina Display in its iPad Mini, said WSJ, citing Apple's component suppliers. However, the Journal did not specify whether this feature will debute at Apple's media event on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

Moreover,  Apple is also working on a thinner, lighter version of the 9.7-inch iPad that features a thin film instead of the glass screen, the WSJ reported, citing Apple's component suppliers.

Already, online rumors of leaked pictures of the iPad Mini 2 are suggesting that Apple has not yet upgraded the resolution from 1024x768 pixels to 2048x1526. CTechCN has released several alleged images of the new tablets, which analysts say the new iPad Mini 2 won't have a Touch ID senor nor the Retina Display nor will the iPad glass screen be replaced with a 'thin film.' 

Even with these purported leaks and rumors, buyers will still need to wait until the actual launch event, which, thankfully, is only a day away, to find out whether the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 will include these recently reported features. Meanwhile, Apple is expected to surprise consumers with the product enhancements both internally and externally. 

Apple's October 22 media event will begin at 10 a.m. PT Tuesday, and it will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in downtown San Francisco.
