iPhone 6S Release Date Rumors Abound: New Apple Phone Slated for 2015 with New Features

The iPhone 6S is coming.
Expect it September 9th. Apple

It may be the height of summer at the time of this writing, but fall is on its way, which means that Apple is readying the latest of its devices including the iPhone 6S.  It should be called the iPhone 6S and not the iPhone 7 due to Apple's "S" naming scheme that it adopted with recent models.  Here are many iPhone 6S rumors and what is to be expected of Apple's iPhone this year.

As for what is in store for the iPhone 6S, Tom's Guide has a report of some big changes.  The biggest change is what is known as Force Touch, a feature that allows the new touchscreen to know the precise difference between a short tap and a long press.  This feature is already on a few MacBooks, not to mention the Apple Watch.  In addition to Force Touch, there is also real-time haptic feedback so the user can physically "feel" your input.  This will come in handy for doing pins on the Maps application, creating Calendar events and other press-and-hold interactions on the iPhone 6S.

There are also reports on internal memory improvements to the iPhone 6S, as a lot of phones out there are getting RAM up to 4GB.  It is possible that the iPhone 6S could be getting a healthy upgrade to 2 GB of RAM, not to mention a new A9 processor from Apple.  Is it possible that the iPhone 6S will have an Apple SIM card?  If the rumors are true, then maybe.

The camera on the iPhone 6S could also be getting a serious upgrade in comparison to previous models as there was a recent patent for a "digital camera with light splitter", which is technology that allows the camera to split light into red, green, and blue components, removing any need for color filters and making photos sharper and clearer.  There is also talk that this technology would reduce what is known as "color cross talk", which is why certain pictures look muddy due to bleeding or inaccurate colors.  There are reports that a Megapixel upgrade is coming as the iPhone 6S could be receiving a 12 Megapixel camera, which is a 4-Megapixel improvement on the 8 Megapixel iSight Camera currently on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

In addition to all these improvements, there is also a possibility of an iPhone 6C which would be a more affordable device with a 4-inch screen, very much like the iPhone 5.

The Cult of Mac reveals that Apple's iPhone 6S keynote is slated for Friday, September 11th, and will probably show up in stores one week later on Friday, September 18th.  The date seems odd as not only is that...well, 9/11, but last year, the iPhone 6 and 6S announcement took place on September 9th, a Tuesday.  If you are not willing to believe that date, then you might want to consider Gizmodo's prediction as they have reported that the Friday presentation of the next iPhone also seems questionable.  I think we can safely say that the iPhone 6S will be appearing sometime in early September.
