Apple has a trend where it will release a new type of smartphone once every two years with the iPhone. Last year, it was the "S" models of the iPhone 6S and 6S plus, which were the same dimensions as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. This year, it should be something very new with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which could have different dimensions and several new features. The iPhone 7 series probably won't arrive until later this year, but there might be a new iPhone 5SE or 6C to arrive this spring.
We should find out when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will make their debut at the usual time of fall 2016, probably around September. One of the biggest rumors that will need to be confirmed is whether or not it will have that missing headphone jack, according to Metro. Some say that it could feature a buttonless design.
Oh, there is also an added rumor about faster download speeds, not to mention wireless charging, a feature that Samsung is having and Apple really needs to adapt. That goes for the waterproofing and dust proofing feature as well. The camera could be getting an upgrade to an iSight with some very good pics on a 13 Megapixel primary and 8 Megapixel secondary cameras.
Most, like the iPhone 7 Buzz website, believe that the iPhone 7 will be equipped with iOS 10, which will probably launch at the same time as the release date of Apple's flagship smartphone. Other rumors include Sapphire Glass, the material used in the Apple Watch, as well as an OLED display.
MacRumors believes that the iPhone 7 will have a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 7 Plus will have a 5.5-inch screen. Just to let you know, those specs are the same as the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, respectively. Does this mean that the sizes of these phones will not change? If so, that means that accessory makers like Otterbox and Incipio will only have to change the labels on their accessories for the iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 6/6S, rather than redesign the entire case. Some believe that the phone could have a larger display like maybe 5.8 inches, and this year's version of the iPhone could be thinner.
Speaking of screen size, this is just as good of a time to talk about the new iPhone that could happen in the spring. Apple is reportedly doing one of their big announcements on March 21, and that they could be releasing a smaller version of the iPhone.
This would be one with a 4-inch screen, made for those that are not liking the trend for larger screens. This spring release iPhone could also be known as the iPhone 5SE (or iPhone 6C), and it would be identical to the iPhone 5S released back in 2013. It will probably have Apple's A9 and M9 processors and some features from the iPhone 6 like an advanced camera system, ability to take Live Photos, always-on Siri activation, and the NFC chip for Apple Pay.
