The human rights abuses carried out by Islamic State militants have been recounted in shocking detail by 14-year-old Mohammed, who was brutally tortured by the jihadist group because he refused to be turned into a child soldier.

In a recent interview with NBC, Mohammed, who is now bound to a wheelchair, revealed how his right hand and left foot were chopped off by the extremists less than two weeks ago after he refused to comply with their demands and attempted to flee the training camp.

According to the report, Mohammed was discovered and arrested by the extremists following his attempted escape and was locked up in a room with 75 other boys and men, where they were all tortured and beaten with bats on their shins, and received electric shocks to their genitals.

"Many people died there. No water, no electricity. They provided water twice a day. We used the toilet once a day," Mohammed said.

During his subsequent trial, a Sharia judge told the young boy that by choosing to leave the land of "true Islam" he was abandoning his religion.

"This is the judgement of God. You were going to the land of the infidels... so you are like them. Your leg and arm must be cut off," the judge allegedly stated.

Mohammed, who now lives in the Turkish city of Sanliurfa in a small apartment, told the news source that on the day he was punished, the jihadist group invited foreign fighters and their children to observe from the front row.

Amid loud cheering and celebration, the boy's limbs were cut with a meat cleaver by a member of the ISIS' chopping committee famously known by the nickname "The Bulldozer."

Mohammed told the news outlet that the most painful part of his experience was that people around pitied him, and at one point was given 50 Turkish lira ($15) by someone who mistook him for beggar.

Earlier this year, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that as ISIS had opened up "Cubs of the Caliphate" recruiting offices and training camps in a number of its strongholds.

As part of their training, children as young as ten years old are taught how to use deadly weapons and are forced to watch shocking beheading and execution videos to desensitize them against such brutal practices. In addition, the children are routinely subject to the indoctrination of a hard-line kind of Islam faith.

When they graduate from the training camps, the group uses the children - many of them mentally handicapped - to execute prisoners and as human shields and suicide bombers. Some of the children are forced to donate blood to the fighters, according to the SOHR report.

The SOHR also revealed that the Islamic State has used 52 child soldiers as suicide bombers in 2015 alone. The report emphasized that it had documented proof that the group is using children below the age of 16 as suicide bombers.

The UN has condemned such practices and said the existence of training camps and the use of older children in military operations amounted to "a war crime".
